Lovely meal at Akash last night ?? Meal was DELISH and the service was spot on as always ? Was great to see it busy and people still arriving when we were leaving at 9.45. And do you know what.. I for one don't mind taking my own alcohol ????Lots of places do it now, it's not a big deal and it works well for a lot of business. I know they are awaiting for their licence to sell alcohol but I for one would be more than happy for it to remain bring your own bottle ?? Good luck to all at Akash and hope that 2016 is a successful one ? Comment by Staci Fowler |

Walton has a new restaurant! AKASH, serving Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, has opened at 7 Old Pier Street where Sunrise used to be. Run by Sam Chow Mahin and the same team that ran the other Indian restaurant in Newgate Street, the new place has been refurbished and has an airy modern feel to it. But it's the food that really matters, and the opening night buffet was excellent, just as the food in the old restaurant was. We'll be back soon to explore the new menu (I hope the Talapia Tandori is still on the menu!), but until then I would like to wish Sam, Nurul Amin and the rest of the team a huge success with the new venture. And thanks for last night, I along with the many others there, had a great time. Comment by Edmund Kente |

I've come to Central Kiosk many times when I want a guilty pleasure in a burger and it's so worth it. The only bad thing I would say it's very hard to just have one burger and not order another lol. The staff are friendly and you have a wonderful view while you have a bite to eat. Comment by Jamie Thomson |

A - Review Date 2/3/2016 |
A great place to visit for all sorts of reasons. First the Tower itself. Climb the spiral staircase up the half dozen floors, pausing on each floor to inspect the ever-changing exhibition of art by local artists – some of it really good. The art is for sale, and I have bought several pictures here. There is also a floor with an historic exhibition of Walton, the Tower, and the surrounding area, with fossils from prehistoric times. Then there is the viewing platform at the top, from where you can look out to sea, or inland, for miles. The views are spectacular and there are information notices which tell you what to look for. Finally the café. Excellent sandwiches, cakes, coffee/teas etc. Good quality produce and always fresh. Baked potatoes – baked in an oven – and you won’t get better a bacon bap anywhere (white or brown). Eat inside or venture out to the picnic tables The Naze itself, on which the tower sits, is a beautiful cliff top grassy area, popular with kite flyers, dog walkers and families. The nearby Stony Point a terrific unspoilt beach with the cliff face rising from it. Well worth a visit – we go regularly for breakfast, or lunch, and to the regularly changing exhibitors. Highly recommended. Comment by Edmund Kente |

Thai Food at it's Best - Review Date 2/3/2016 |
Before moving to Walton a few years ago, we lived in Stoke Newington, London, a stones throw from the Stoke Newington Church Street where there were, and still are, a great many award winning restaurants - including two Thai. I’ve also eaten Thai in other parts of London and abroad. The food at The Pearl of Samui is not only equal to any of them, it is better than most. Bodin, the owner and Chef, and his wife Pat are most welcoming, the food is amazingly good and the value terrific. As well as the usual and delicious Thai Pad and Curry dishes, try the Sea Bass, the Mussulman Lamb Curry, and the Roti bread. And you wont get better dumplings or Tempura anywhere. A nice relaxing atmosphere, friendly service and beautiful food. Thai food at it’s best. Comment by Edmund Kente |

Our favourite for breakfast - Review Date 17/8/2014 |
We always take our visitors to Sunray's for breakfast on the beach; we love his bacon sarnies and egg & bacon baguettes. We don't often eat fish n chips, but if Sunray's is open, we'll always go there - scampi are succulent and the chips ultra crisp. We're never disappointed. Comment by Angela Gostling |

Just had a superb meal at the Bath House with our wonderful neighbours. The food was great, beautifully cooked and very tasty, the service was really good, the young lady who served us was so friendly and helpful, and it was all very reasonably priced, Dave and his staff made us feel very welcome. 10 out of 10 for food and service. Excellent Beachside Cafe - Review Date 2/3/2016 |
Living as we do in Walton-on-the-Naze this is a regular haunt of ours. Sometimes just for an excellent filter coffee, maybe with some delicious freshly cooked doughnuts, or sometimes for an al fresco breakfast bacon roll. Later in the day we may go for the tasty hamburgers with chips that are second to none. There's excellent ice cream on offer too. The place itself is a sun trap and you sit looking out to the beach and sea beyond. Always beautifully clean tables, and even the floor of the promenade is kept brushed. Or, if you prefer, take your food to the beach, its only seconds away. The prices are very competitive, the quality top notch, and the service warm and friendly. No wonder it's been so popular with locals and visitors alike for so many years. Comment by Edmund Kente |

So much more than its name suggests! - Review Date 27/7/2014 |
A warm friendly welcome, I have eaten here with large family groups of 10 or dinner for two. Each time the service has been brilliant! Even down to checking the custard for thick enough for my husband. My Mother is a coeliac and has always been welcome, and she can actually eat a meal, which isn't a jacket potato! The food is delicious, fresh and homemade. There's always something new to try! Comment by Samantha Divers |

Walton's Hidden Gem - Review Date 2/3/2016 |
The Hidden gem of Walton-on-the-Naze. The outside of this unassuming small café bellies the delights within. Italian Chef Rik, and his Spanish wife Ana, conjure up the most delicious food, cooked from the best ingredients freshly to order. Apart from the usual breakfasts, Sundays Roasts, and staple café fayre, there are the weekly changing half dozen specials which are the secret delight of this eatery. Recent specials have included Caramelised shallot and baby onion tarte tatin, Penne Pasta Carbonara, New Zealand Mussels Marinara and Straciatella soup with croutons. And to follow, whole roasted Seabass with rosemary garlic wine and balsamic vinegar, Italian meatballs in a red wine and tomato sauce, Lamb chops in a tomato and tarragon sauce, Spinach and ricotta filled tortellini with a Bolognese sauce and probably the best ever Chicken Cacciatore. Once a month the café hosts themed evenings, such as Spanish Night,French Cuisine, Continental Christmas menu, Italian Cosine, Fish Feast, where a never ending buffet offers an eat as much as you like menu of starters, main courses and puddings. They also do Tapas on Friday and Saturday evenings - incredible value for money Book early for these as they book out very quickly. The prices for both the themed evening and the usual café food is competitive and great value – see their web site www.thenazecafe.co.uk for more details - and there is the added plus of being able to bring your own wine (the café is not licensed). Whether you’re after a good hearty breakfast, a special lunch or dinner, you won’t do better than The Naze Café, Walton’s best kept secret (till now). Comment by Edmund Kente |

5 Star Ale's, Food and Service ***** - Review Date 2/3/2016 |
The Victory is my local and has been for many years. It's had it's good times and some not so good. The latest change a few months ago when Matt and Michelle took it over is definitely a good one. The new menu in the restaurant is excellent and should appeal to most people - including vegetarians. The Sunday Roasts are amazingly good, even the Nut Roast (!) and the menu choices in the week vary from grills and steaks to fish dishes and pasta, from Burgers to home made Suet Puddings (which are terrific!). The choices are both traditional and modern, so you can have some good up market Pub Grub, or enjoy some new exciting and tasty dishes. We have now eaten here several times of late and can thoroughly recommend the Suet Puddings, the Sea Bass, the Salmon and Dill fishcakes, and the aforementioned Roasts. But it's a fantastic menu and we hope to work our way through it over the next few months. Everything is cooked from scratch by Matt (an excellent chef) and food is beautifully presented. The place is warm (I write this on a very cold winters day) and spotless, the staff are very welcoming, efficient and friendly, making for a great atmosphere. A lovely place to eat, or to meet friends for drinks from the well stocked bar with excellent real ales on offer. They also do bar snacks and lunches, with daily specials. Lovely Pub, excellent restaurant, and all on my doorstep! How lucky is that? For those who may visit our Town for a summer holiday, or a weekend break, well I can't recommend it enough. Thanks Matt and Michelle for some great evenings and more to come I hope! 5 Stars ***** Comment by Edmund Kente |

Food available all day?? When's that then? - Review Date 17/8/2014 |
Saturday evening at 8pm clearly not included in 'all day'. The menus and blackboards were still advertising 'all day' food but we were not only told that they'd stopped serving food but that we'd find it difficult to find somewhere to eat 'at this time of night'. Rather a shame as we'd have stayed there all night and enjoyed the live music. Won't bother again. Comment by Angela Gostling |
